Pittsburgh's 50 Finest

50 finest header

Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest are 50 of the city’s most eligible men and women. These outstanding single professionals have been selected on the basis of their activity in the community, success in their careers, and determination by the steering committee to be the most eligible men and women in the city.

Each of the 50 Finest is committed to raising as much money as possible for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation by the night of the party. They are counting on friends, family, co-workers, and the business community to help them to exceed their minimum goal of $2,500 and vie for the top spots currently held by alumni Heidi Marinack ($21,500 in 2007), Lisa Cibik, M.D., ($14,600 in 2003), Paul Kraisinger, D.M.D. ($14,453 in 2009), and Tara McComb ($14,372 in 2002).

Donations can be made directly to the individuals or by contacting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and making a donation in their names either over the phone, by mailing to the address below, or by going online to www.cff.org/chapters/wpa.

CF is a genetic disease that causes the body to produce an abnormally thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and digestive system, making breathing and digestion difficult and eventually impossible. The current median age of survival for those with CF is 38 years, more than double what it was 25 years ago, thanks to the phenomenal research funded by the CF Foundation.

The CF Foundation is consistently ranked as one of the nation’s “Best in the Business” for its exceptionally efficient use of fund-raising dollars by publications such as the Wall Street Journal’s SmartMoney magazine. The CF Foundation has also received the coveted four-star rating for sound fiscal management from Charity Navigator, the largest charity evaluator in the U.S., assuring contributors that donated funds are going exactly where they should.

Casey Hanner She can sleep through anything. The reason? As she was growing up, her father, Dave Hanner of the popular local Corbin/Hanner Band, had a music studio in their basement, directly beneath her bedroom. Casey Hanner couldn’t escape the influence music had on her life, and she started playing the guitar at age 14. While studying civil engineering at the University of Delaware, she spent breaks playing music with her brother, a drummer. A singer and guitarist, she later teamed up with him to form the group Donora, which has music critics across the country singing their praises. In August, Hanner, 25, will be completing her master’s degree in transportation engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. As she proudly accepts her degree, her biggest transportation concern will be which direction her tour bus is going next. Sponsored by: ShowClix, Penn Brewery, Cohen & Grigsby, Mr. & Mrs. Peter Dickinson, Mark Magalotti, Mr. & Mrss Richard Nelson, Mr. & Mrs. James Werheim, Mary Williams, Mr. & Mrs. William Verbanets, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Zebrine, & Other Friends & Family
