The Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania Awards of Distinction luncheon honored seven strong, successful women in Pittsburgh at The Westin Convention Center. KDKA-TV news anchor Stephanie Watson hosted the event, presenting the Women of Distinction Awards to those who not only make an impact in their careers, but also give back to their communities. Two current Girl Scouts also received the Girl Scout Humanitarian Award and the Girl of Distinction Award. The winner of the second award, Sarah Blahovec, said she could sum up the Girl Scouts of America in one word: “opportunity.” While Girl Scouts grant Blahovec and the organization’s other 35,000 members the opportunity to reach their full potential, the luncheon provided the opportunity to see how women in Pittsburgh utilize the Girl Scout’s pillars of courage, confidence, and character to actually make the world a better place.
