What products are on your holiday must-have list?
M·A·C Cosmetics launched a gorgeous holiday collection, M·A·C Cosmetics Fabulousness. The packaging alone makes this whole story a must have for me — chic, satin-tufted compacts will make you think one for mom … one for me!
What’s an easy makeup update to master this season?
This holiday season, keep an eye out for a red you’d love to wear on your lips. It’s a timeless, classic beauty statement. M·A·C offers a PRO Lip Palette in six editorial reds in six different shade ranges, so you can mix and match to find that gorgeous red you’ll feel empowered by. If six choices feels overwhelming, try a signature red like M·A·C Cosmetics Lipstick in Lady Danger. It’s a nice matte texture that promises to wear well through all of your holiday festivities.
How do you achieve just the right amount of drama for a holiday party, without going overboard with your makeup?
The best way to balance your holiday look is to follow the age-old adage of choosing a feature and empowering it. If you love your eyes, smoke them up! If you love your lips, choose a bold color. Personally, I believe rules are meant to be broken. I love a strong makeup with a wash-and- wear hairstyle. Vice versa applies as well. If you’ve got an updo, try an understated makeup look with gorgeous polished skin.
How can we make our makeup last through a night out?
The trick to making your makeup last throughout the night is choosing the right textures. For lips, matte textures wear much longer — they’re a more tenacious texture. For eyes, look for long-wear claims.
What are some great holiday gift ideas — for mom, your BFF, your sister?
The M·A·C Glamour Daze and Fabulousness collections make great gifts, but don’t forget about M·A·C Viva Glam either. These are gifts that give back! Every cent from the selling price of anything with the name Viva Glam is donated to the M·A·C AIDS fund to support men, women, and children who are affected by HIV and AIDS.

Carroll & Co. is a menswear staple in Beverly Hills that has been dressing stylish men from Hollywood to inside the Oval Office for the last six decades. Naturally, we jumped at the chance to interview Carroll & Co. President John Carroll, who shares his how to’s for how it’s done and what statement-making pieces every stylish man should be sporting this season.
How to Build A Smart Wardrobe | “If you’re just starting out, the first thing you need is a navy blue suit. The second is a gray suit, maybe a solid or a stripe, and the third is a blazer and a great pair of slacks. Then, accessorize accordingly to make that core wardrobe more varied, whimsical, and unique.”
How to Be Trendy and Timeless | “The trend for this season is about fit. Things are much trimmer today for men than they were [in the past]. Coats are trimmer, narrower, and shorter. Flat-front pants are worn a little shorter.”
How to Stand Out in the Crowd | “We’ve brought in a lot of sport jackets in bright colors and bold patterns this year. A rust and blue windowpane has been a big hit, and believe it or not, we’ve done a plaid with a pink overplaid. We’re trying to loosen up some of these guys that have been stuck in a dark suit for the last three or four seasons. A neat accessory is also a bold sock. We’re doing a lot of colorful, whimsical socks.”
How to Look Sharp When Dressed Down | “You still want to be tailored. I’m getting a little bit tired of the black T-shirt. A gentleman can still wear a pair of jeans, but try a nice dark jean with a fun shirt and maybe a casual suede or leather jacket over it. More of the refined, trim look both in formal clothing and in sportswear is refreshing.”
