Animal Friends’ Black Tie and Tails 2012: Best in Show Gala

The adoptable animals from Animal Friends held the spotlight at the annual Black Tie & Tails: Best in Show Gala — from the litter of puppies at the welcome reception to the adorable party animals that mingled all night. The event, held at the Circuit Center & Ballroom, raised $400,000 for humane rescue, shelter, and adoption services, and other furry friends programs. Jolene Miklas, director of communications at Animal Friends, says, “We always incorporate adoptable animals into our events and auctions. That’s everyone’s favorite part.” WHIRL’s Christine and Jack Tumpson attended as honorary chairs with honorary artists Harry Giglio, Dave Klug, Liz Nicholas, Burton Morris, Martha Rial, Marc Tetro, Wayno, and 500 guests. “Pittsburghers have come to expect this event to be a really spectacular party, and it did not disappoint,” Miklas says. Live and silent auctions, delicious catering by The Fluted Mushroom, and the “mutt shot” photo booth kept everyone enjoying the paw-ty.
