Internships

  • Application deadline for all departments for Fall 2008 internships is August 15.
  • Editorial and Fashion Interns must have an interest in magazines and publishing, the ability to use both PC and Mac platforms, working knowledge of AP style, and the ability to meet deadlines. Copy editing skills are also a plus. Primary duties include fact checking, research, event write–ups, clerical work, and database entry. Interns who meet and exceed these requirements in the workplace will be given the opportunity to write larger profiles and features. Successful fashion interns will meet the above requirements in addition to managing small photo shoots of products and assisting on feature photo shoots.

  • Design Interns will have a variety of duties, which may include designing, editing and laying out magazine pages, creating ads, photo editing and re–touching. creating online graphics– web ready, developing designs and logos for special sections and events, archiving past issues, helping with production and assisting at photo shoots. Candidates must have working knowledge of Photoshop 7.0 or higher, Adobe Illustrator 8.0 or higher and a familiarity with Mac platforms. We prefer design interns to also know Adobe InDesign and HTML. Candidates should have a strong portfolio. Previous design work experience is also a plus.

  • Advertising / Marketing / Sales
    We're looking for a deadline-driven intern who wants to learn about publishing in an industry that is quick to change and tricky to target.

    If you:
    Think strategically, prioritize effectively, finish projects accurately and on time, take initiative and pay attention to industry related trends, we would like to check out your credentials.

    A typical week:
    Coordinate traffic of art between clients and sales staff, create and maintain media lists, provide support to business manager and events editor, learn how to analyze and define market segmentation trends and translate into sales and event opportunities, learn about cross- promotion and marketing, assist with the planning and execution of special events, assist in the distribution of promotional materials and press releases
    Proficient in MS Excel and MS Access
    Experience with SPSS or statistical program
    At least 12 - 15 hours per week required
    Automobile and current driving license preferred
