Feature Update: Since we last talked to Butler native and Poison front man Bret Michaels, he has starred in two reality television shows for VH1, Rock of Love and Rock of Love 2, and dropped a new solo album, Rock My World. So far, things with season two’s winner, Ambre Lake, seem to be going just rosy, so a third season isn’t on the radar. However, the gossip mill’s floodgates have opened since Michaels told the Associated Press in April that he is looking to do a show that takes viewers behind the scenes on tour. Perhaps they’ll be filming at Poison’s show at Post-Gazette Pavilion on August 10. For tickets, call Ticketmaster at 412.323.1900, or visit ticketmaster.com. Cookie CruiseMayor Bob O’Connor and Jack Wagner at the 2004 Cookie Cruise.
More than 15 years ago, the late Mayor Bob O’Connor started the Cookie Cruise as a political fundraiser. The O’Connor family is bringing back his tradition, and the funds raised will now go to The Pittsburgh Foundation Bob O’Connor Memorial Fund. “After my dad died, the public outpouring was overwhelming and very touching, and we decided as a family that we wanted to use this money to create a permanent legacy in his memory,” says Corey O’Connor. The sweet cruise for a cause on the Gateway Clipper Fleet departs from Station Square on August 19. For more information, call Corey O’Connor, 412.521.3931. — K.M.
