Fresh pastas, Italian wines, a celebrated Amaro program, and a welcoming atmosphere in downtown Pittsburgh.
Talia offers a modern take on Italian dining. With an open kitchen, fresh pastas, pizzas, a custom rotisserie, an all-Italian wine list, and the city’s largest Amaro selection, the restaurant honors generations of family tradition while creating a dining experience for today.
The Name Behind Talia
“We are a local family business that has been around for over 50 years. Helen Vallozzi started the company in 1955 selling gnocchi from her house. This introduced Pittsburgh to Vallozzi’s restaurants, both in Greensburg and downtown Pittsburgh.
Talia’s name comes from Helen’s maiden name, Skataglia, which was shortened to Skatell after arriving in the country. Talia is meant to pay honor to her while breaking away from the ‘fine dining’ that is Vallozzi’s.”
Today, Talia honors that legacy while embracing a more modern approach to Italian dining.
Inspired by People and Hospitality
“The people. Our company employees several people that have been with the family for 15 + years, some of which have worked and helped at multiple locations.
Continuing the Italian traditions of food & hospitality have kept us around for almost 10 years!”
Tradition, Reimagined
From its fresh pastas and pizzas to its extensive Italian wine and Amaro program, Talia combines family tradition with a welcoming atmosphere for business dinners, celebrations, and everyday gatherings.
